Virtualization
Each working group can be provided with its own virtual server, e.g. for projects or websites. We are happy to set this up with a current Linux distribution, e.g. Ubuntu or Debian. For this we need a public SSH key, as well as the required specifications of the server, i.e. number of CPU cores, storage and memory as well a host name.
Server Certificates
Server certificates for http(s), SSL, and other purposes should generally be obtained via Let's Encrypt. There are several tools and integrations available for this purpose. In exceptional cases, for internal services, certificates can also be created or signed by the contractor of DFN-PKI. Instructions for creating certificates can be found on the internal websites of the university at: Certificates - Bielefeld University
